First Weekly Weigh In

Yesterday was my first weekly weigh-in on my latest WW journey.  I've done Weight Watchers 3 times previously so what makes me think it will work this time?  I can't really answer that...but all I know is I have to give it a shot.  The plan has changed a great deal and they know just call it WW and focus on whole-body well-being and it just seems more natural than before.

I like the Sunday afternoon meeting in Hurst as I really got to like the leader Suzi there the last time I did WW and she's still around and still as positive and uplifting as she's always been.  Yesterday it was nice out so I rode my trike over to the WW Studio for the meeting.  That meant as soon as I walked in I had to stop and take those heavy boots off as NO WAY was I gonna weigh in with them on!

I'd had a very hectic week last week with teaching professional development all day Monday and then attending and presenting at the TIA CON tech conference in Denton Tuesday and Wednesday.  Monday I managed to stay on plan and even bring my lunch with me to the PDC but Tuesday and Wednesday I went "off the rails" and ate what I wanted while at the conference.  I was able to rein it back in and mostly eat on the plan the rest of the week but did have a few beers and yummy treats over the weekend.  That being said, I was kinda nervous going into that first weekly weigh-in but hopeful that I'd at least lost a little bit.

I was so delighted when she told me I'd lost two whole pounds!  Remember WW is NOT a fad diet and they suggest that a healthy weight loss is typically about 2-4 pounds so with the week I'd had behind me I was delighted with a two-pound loss to start!

This week I'm trying to focus more on meal planning as I have a lot going on this week as well.  I've written out a plan for lunch and dinner for the week and am hoping I can make myself stick to it.  Next week I'll be on vacation so all bets will be off and I'll just have to do the best I can as we will be traveling on the motorcycles.

I'll miss my meeting next week but will be sure to post another update when I'm back in town and have some progress to report.

Starting a New Journey Today

Yesterday I joined Weight Watchers...again.  This will be either my third or fourth go-round on WW (what they now call it), I honestly can't remember if it's the third or fourth time.

So, what makes this time different from the other times you ask?  I can't answer that to tell you the truth.  All I know is I am currently at the heaviest weight I have EVER been and I hate it.  I feel physically tired all the time, feel horrible about my body and I'm frankly tired of feeling that way.

No real excuse as to why I let myself get this way, I just have been eating what I want and doing what I want and using the excuse that I couldn't exercise because of my ankle or knee or whatever the ailment was...but in fact the lack of exercise is probably part of what is making my ankle and knee bother me.  So, I'm gonna suck it up and just get after it.

The WW plan has changed SO MUCH in the past year or so and seems easier than ever.  It truly is focused on healthy clean eating and most fruits and veggies (not all)  are ZERO POINTS!  Even eggs are zero points!  I stayed up way too late last night reading over the program on their website and I'm very excited about it.

After my meeting today I went by Aldi and got some fresh veggies and fruits for snacks and I will need to plan my eating for the next three days as I'll be teaching professional development all day tomorrow and at a tech conference Tuesday and Wednesday, but I'm going to do a little research on places to eat and I think I'll be fine.

I will try and post updates here as my journey progresses.  We are going on vacation in two weeks which will make eating healthy a challenge but I'm gonna do my best.

Hello there!

Welcome to my new personal blog.  I've been operating for the blog for Bright Ideas in Blended Learning for a while now, but wanted to start a personal blog to share things from my personal life.

Teaching and Blended Learning are my professional passions, but on a personal level I love horses, Harleys and much, much more!  I'll be sharing those little tidbits and other "random ramblings" here from time to time.

Stay tuned...I've got a couple posts in the works now!
